Universal Star Mohanlal’s much-anticipated multi-starrer Christian Brothers, directed by Joshi, has been postponed once again.

The film was originally slated for October 22 release, but was later shifted to November 26 and then to January 26, 2011. Now, the latest we hear is that the makers has postponed the movie to March 10! Producer Subair has not given any official reason for the latest postponement.

Starring Mohanlal, Dileep, Sarathkumar, Lakshmi Rai and Kavya Madhavan in the lead, the film is the biggest multi-starrer after Twenty:20. It has Mohanlal playing a Godfather type of role with Suresh Gopi and Dileep playing his brothers. Kavya Madhavan will be the pair of Mohanlal. The film is scripted by Sibi and Udayan.

According to sources, his next venture Jeevitha Sagaram will be produced by Antony Perumbavoor. The shooting will commence in April after Mohanlal completes China Town.

Padmapriya will be the heroine. Ilayaraaja will compose the music and Venu will crank the camera.

After a gap of eight years, one of the most successful actor-director combos — Mohanlal and Priyadarshan — who gave over 39 films together, is back once again!

This time, director Priyadarshan will direct Mohanlal in a Hindi film tentatively titled Tez which went on floors recently. Mohanlal will be playing a Malayalee investigative cop in this rib-tickling comedy, scripted by Priyadarshan himself.

The film, produced by Venus Production, stars Ajay Devgn, Anil Kapoor, Tusshar Kapoor, Kangana Ranaut, Sameera Reddy and Boman Irani. Apart from that Priyadarshan will also do a comedy film with Lal in Malayalam. This will be a bilingual with Akshay Kumar in the lead role in the Hindi version.

Malayalam superstars Mohanlal and Mammootty, who have dominated the Kerala film scene ever since they debuted over 30 years ago, have bagged the top honours at the 13th Ujala-Asianet Film Awards announced on Saturday.

Mohanlal, who has acted in nearly 300 films, was named for the Asianet Golden Star Award for his overall contribution to cinema. The special award had gone to Mammootty, who is in his 50s, last year.

Mammootty got the best actor award for his roles in films like Pranchiettan, The Saint, Kutty Shranku and Best Actor, all which released this year. Pranchiettan, directed by Renjith, bagged the best film award.

Asianet vice-president M.R. Rajan, who announced the awards here Saturday, said there were 28 awards in various categories.

“The awards will be distributed at Kochi on January 9 and for the first time we have decided to give an award for Tamil films as well. Vijay, for his various films, has got the popular hero award in Tamil films,” said Rajan.

Popular south Indian actress Nayantara won the best actress award for her role in Bodyguard.

The best director award went to popular producer-actor-director Lal for the film “In Ghost House Inn”.

The award for the most popular actor and actress went to Dileep and Mamta Mohandas, respectively, for their roles in several films released during 2010.

Jayasurya was selected as the Youth Icon of the Year.
